A strong foundation for success. A sustainable future. Generations of the art we love.

Since 1990, Larry Clausen has had a number of notable accomplishments in relation to Alberta Ballet.  As the Chair of the Calgary City Ballet, he was instrumental in facilitating the merger with Alberta Ballet in Edmonton, making it the provincial company it is today. Larry has been an integral part of Alberta Ballet’s success, and his experience was invaluable in turning around not only the reputation of the company, but in generating sustainable relationships to keep the organization afloat at a time when there appeared to be no room for the arts in the spiraling Alberta economy.

Larry helped implement a new model that gives the Ballet a strong foundation for success - stakeholders have the confidence to stay invested, management can acquire the resources and tools it needs to keep building, and the artistic side can continue to deliver world-class productions that thrill audiences.

We want to continue Larry’s tradition of driving for sustainability, preparing for a strong foundation of dance that our audiences continue to love. Join us in supporting the future of Alberta Ballet, and help us continue to present the art you love for generations to come.

“Gone are the days of artistic entitlement. If the art doesn’t satisfy the customer, then financial challenges are inevitable. Boards must always be conscious of the quality of artistic presentation and receptivity of customers. If the two don’t align, then change is needed.”
— Larry Clausen, Alberta Ballet Board Chair 2016-2019
